The 2024 Honda Civic continues its reign as one of the best compact cars on the market. Now entering its 11th generation, the Civic impresses with its refined drive quality, spacious interior, attractive styling, impressive fuel economy, and generous list of standard features.

For 2024, Honda has not made any significant changes to the Civic since its full redesign for 2022. The powertrain options carry over, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine on base models producing 158 horsepower. Opting for the EX trim and above nets you a more potent turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower. Sadly the manual transmission is no longer offered on the sedan, but it remains available on the hatchback. Fuel economy is excellent, with ratings as high as 42 mpg highway.

The Civic really shines when you get behind the wheel. The steering is responsive and engaging, instilling confidence around turns. The ride quality smooths out imperfections in the road while still feeling tied down and controlled. Cabin materials are a step above most small cars, with plenty of padded surfaces and no major squeaks or rattles. The front seats are comfortable and supportive for long trips.

On the tech front, the Civic impresses yet again. All models get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Larger screens are optional, as is an excellent Bose stereo. Driver assistance features like collision mitigation braking and lane keeping assist come standard across the lineup.

For 2024 Honda has confirmed a new Civic Hybrid model will join the family, providing an electrified option alongside the normal gas engines. The hybrid promises to deliver even better fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance or interior space. Honda says it will use a two-motor hybrid system similar to the Accord Hybrid.

With so few changes for 2024, the Honda Civic retains its spot among the best compact sedans and hatchbacks you can buy. Its combination of value, efficiency, driving enjoyment and safety make it easy to recommend. The 2024 Civic starts at $25,045 and ranges up to $32,545 for the top Touring trim. If you're shopping for an affordable, well-rounded small car, the Civic should be at the top of your list.
