Foreign SIM Cards In India? TRAI Suggests New Authorisation Framework | Business News | ET Now

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made key recommendations to regulate the sale and use of foreign SIM and eSIM cards in machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices manufactured in India.

TRAI has proposed a new authorisation framework under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, to be called “International M2M SIM Service Authorisation.” The authorisation will be issued fully online with auto-generated digital approvals and can be applied for by any company registered in India.
