Vintage V6 Icon set up

Описание к видео Vintage V6 Icon set up

This is one of Jonathan's 5 guitars - a Vintage V6 Icon. Like the 'distressed' Vintage V120 in that crop of 5 guitars, the least convincing thing about this guitar is the relic'ing. But - as with all Vintage relic'ing jobs - from 4 to 5 feet away it looks the part so it's perfect for stage and posing for looks. Aside from that, the guitar is a capable Strat, in this case with a Wilkinson humbucker in the bridge to go with the two single coils. The whole V6 package is very playable (in my opinion) although this neck DID need a fair bit of taming with the Banana levelling tool: a fair few hills and valleys as you'll see from the close-ups. The nut, although difficult to remove (too much glue!) proved at least to be a regular-sized slot and permitted a Tusq nut drop-in replacement (albeit modified to be an adjustable one). Let's hope the days of JHS-family brand guitars with non-standard nut slots are over....yes? My main complaint about this guitar was that they took relic'ing too far on the bridge - such that the forced rust actually clogged up one of the grub screw heads so that only a very new hex key could turn it. Had I continued with a slightly worn one I would have quickly stripped that grub screw. Not really a good idea to half-kill a functional component just for looks. But then again, that's what some people say about relic'ing.
