Android 12 Developer Preview 3 Screenshot Editor Feature Overview

A new Android 12 feature is the built-in screenshot editor. We're not seeing the scrolling screenshot option just yet, but we can add some text, mark it up, and share it.

As is with AOSP, vanilla Android is finally getting some useful screenshot features quite late in the game. We've seen OEMs offer these types of features for a while now but they had to be developed internally without the help of Google.

This looks to be changing with the 3rd developer preview of Android 12. Now, Android 12 DP1 had a screenshot editor as well but it wasn't as fleshed out as this one. The first thing you'll likely notice is the enhanced animations associated with saving a screenshot and launching the editor.

Not only that, but we now have multiple font options to choose from. This currently includes the standard Roboto font, a cursive handwriting option, typewriter, and bubbly styles along with a bold and italic option.

We have two different styles of brushes included with Android 12 DP3 with 7 color options to choose from as well. Lastly, before you save or share your edited screenshots, you can also erase any markup you've done.
