Mount Morgan was once one of the richest gold mines in the world, producing over 260 tonnes of gold, 37 tonnes of silver, and nearly 387,000 tonnes of copper. The mine shaped Queensland’s economy and gave rise to a thriving community in the late 1800s.

Today, the town stands as a reminder of both human ambition and the environmental cost of progress. Its quiet streets, old buildings, and the massive open-cut mine tell the story of a place that once fueled an era of wealth and industry.
