This tune was written in 1979 by Pete St. John. From what I've read, he heard a story about a young man from the Athenry area who had been caught stealing corn to feed his family during the Irish famine years. He was deported to Australia. I was introduced to it by my friend Paul Conrad years ago and made this recording to share with my Zoom jam friends in Ireland during COVID.
