Video #9 - Jigsaw

The Jigsaw strategy requires learners to rely on each other in order to learn new material. In this strategy each student is given a new piece of learning to master. After they read or research their section of the learning, they get into small groups called Home Groups (all students in this group have read or researched the same topic) to compare notes and create presentations. Next, students move into Expert Groups, in which each student has a different piece of information. Students then present for their Expert Group. Other members of the Expert Group are actively listening, taking notes and asking questions during the presentations. Finally, Expert Groups are broken up and students move back to their Home Group to compare notes about each of the presentations they have heard in their Expert Group. Then an assessment is given to ensure the proper learning took place.
