Caught My First Shibi Kayak Fishing Maui Hawaii Ahi Yellowfin Tuna

Caught me a butterball two days after Thanksgiving.
This fish has been on the top of my Bucket List since I first started kayak fishing.

I was heartbroken because two weeks before this, I lost a Shibi over a failed knot. It was the first time this ever happened and the sad thing is I had a feeling this knot wasn't up to par. I was about to retie it but got lazy and left it on. Lesson learned! Now if I'm not feeling the knot, I'll just start over and retie.

I got whitewashed at this spot four times in a row so this redemption felt good...Real good!

I've said this on my Instagram before...
But I've noticed that the Maui Kayak Fishing Community watches out for each other. Everyone lets each other know where the bait's biting and if someone doesn't catch, the boyz are sharing. There's always solid vibes and you feel safer knowing you got guys watching your back. Thanks for all the killer sessions and mahalo for watching.
