Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, was born on February 25, 1883, at Windsor Castle, England. She was the daughter of Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, and Princess Helena of Waldeck and Pyrmont, making her a granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

In 1904, she married Prince Alexander of Teck, later known as the Earl of Athlone.
Alice was deeply involved in public service and philanthropy. She supported various charities, including the National Children's Adoption Association and the Royal School of Needlework4. During World War II, she served as Honorary Air Commandant of the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division. She also became the first Chancellor of the University of the West Indies in 1950.

Princess Alice lived a long life, passing away on January 3, 1981, at Kensington Palace, aged 97. She was the longest-lived British Princess of the Blood Royal and the last surviving grandchild of Queen Victoria
