Back when these were new, the only two-toning on Cadillacs and other luxury cars (Lincoln, Imperial, Packard 400 and Patrician) was a contrasting body and roof. You never would have seen the kind of black/silver two-toning this car has. Or the pinstriping. Luxury car owners were a very conservative, low-key group.

And we revere '50's cars now, but I can tell you from personal experience that if your parents owned a car like this in the mid-to-late-60's, you were the object of continual teasing and derision. A '56 Cadillac, or anything else from the '50's, was just another old car.

How times change. If your dad drove you to middle school in a car like this now, since it's become "Classic" and "Collectible", your cool factor would go up by twenty.
