This Force Gurkha Modified by installing Blue Garage Lift Kit. The video shows a detailed step by step guide for installation of the kit. Pros and Cons of lifting are explained. Before and After comparison with accurate measurements. The video is also a guide for any vehicle for which lift kit is being planned.

My Review on the Results of the Lift Kit:

On the Lift Kit At the outset, let me put up a disclaimer :- This lift kit is NOT a minor modification. We are playing with the suspension geometry and it will definitely have its effects, long term and short term. There are definitely advantages, but we must clearly understand how this suspension works and what are the flip sides we are compromising upon while getting these results.

On the Angle of LCA and CV axle: I had anticipated a much more extreme angle, but it is thankfully, milder. But please do remember, that the angle however small, is un-natural to the suspension's engineering and will get strained when operating at extremes. The longer strut has played into the available extension travel and therefore will consume the travel range in the droop side because the coil still remains the same. I have committed to the lift kit, because this modification for me, is one step in a series, towards a full suspension re-work I'm planning in the future. I am pursuing the diff-drop option keenly and will update the channel when I get it done. Ideally, the Blue Garage kit should consist of another set of spacers for correcting the lower arms axis, which is operating acute now, And the diff drop kit to properly bring the axle parallel, along with shock extension joints for the rear as well. That would have made the lift complete and completely safe.

On the Ride Height Effects: The higher ride will definitely have an effect on the way the truck handles and will affect the ride quality as well, because the body is moving farther up from the wheels. That is basic physics. But, in this case the effect is marginal and not apparent because of the Gurkha already being a tall BOF truck and my upsized MT tires which sets the baseline tolerance higher. Overall, the ride and handling is not deteriorated to the extent one would expect post a traditional lift and is very acceptable.

On the Ground Clearance: The supposed "low GC" of the gurkha has become a topic of much amusement and euphoria for many of us Gurkha owners, and even more amusingly, among non Gurkha owners. Here's my honest take on that: The only silly thing under that truck is the Tax Plate. Even before delivery, remove it and chuck it out. The Gurkha has pretty decent GC otherwise in the mid section. The problem has been over-stated and over-generalised. The lower arm, is indeed low, but it won't be a deal breaker for most of the owners as it rises and falls with the wheels. If you are into regular off roading, and attempting gnarly trails, then it would be a problem definitely. You can try to attack the problem by step by step modification. You will be amazed how solid the underbody is and what a beating that villain of Lower Arm can take. It is solid heavy metal, and a quick contrast by looking under the competition's body will reveal what a heavy weight the Gurkha is. Depending on your usage profile, the truck itself will demand what kind of mods it wants. First, try if a simple tyre upsize would work. Then think of more serious modifications such as this lift kit etc. Whatever mod you may plan, understand how it would affect the vehicle and then go right ahead.

On the Numbers: I have made some measurements and put some numbers up, as guidance figures here. But my appeal to you is not to get too hung up on the number game. Enjoy the Gurkha for what it was meant for - care free driving on any terrain. A few mills here and there shouldn't kill your buzz.

Finally, have fun with the truck and be blessed!
