Former CIA intelligence officer Andrew Bustamante rates more "Mission: Impossible" movies, starring Tom Cruise, for realism.

Bustamante breaks down the realism of the interrogation scene in "Mission: Impossible" (1996), with Ving Rhames and Jon Voight; as well as common movie tropes such as the helicopter infiltration scene in "Mission: Impossible 2" (2000); and the plausibility of a quick-change disguise in "Mission: Impossible III" (2006), with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Simon Pegg. He covers self-defense tactics, such as the grappling scene in "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol" (2011), with Jeremy Renner and Léa Seydoux; and the knife attack and bomb threat scenes in "Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation" (2015), with Rebecca Ferguson. He also explains the accuracy of operating in various environments and equipment used in spycraft, such as the motorcycle chase in "Mission: Impossible — Fallout" (2018), with Henry Cavill; the desert operation scene and the use of chemical weapons in "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning" (2023); and the underwater operation and use of artificial intelligence in "Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning" (2025).

Bustamante was a CIA covert intelligence officer for seven years. He worked in the National Clandestine Service, now called the Directorate of Operations. He is the founder of EverydaySpy, an education and training platform that teaches espionage tactics for everyday life. He is also the host of "EverydaySpy Podcast."
