While YouTube does not offer a direct “disable download” button, there are still a few useful settings you can change to help control how others interact with your video content. So without wasting much time, let’s dive straight into it.

First, open your YouTube Studio app or go to the YouTube Studio website on your browser. Once you’re logged into your account, head over to the Content section where all your uploaded videos are listed. Find the video you want to edit and tap on the pencil icon next to it. This will allow you to change the video details and access other advanced options.

Next, scroll down until you see the “Shorts and Remixing” or “Additional settings” section. In this section, you’ll see options like “Allow remixing” and “Allow embedding.” Although there’s no dedicated setting to stop users from downloading your video, unchecking these options will restrict others from embedding or remixing your video content on or off the platform.

Now, unchecking “Allow remixing” means other users won’t be able to take parts of your video to create Shorts or other remixed content. Similarly, disabling “Allow embedding” will prevent your video from being shared or played on external websites. While this won’t completely stop YouTube Premium users from downloading videos for offline viewing, it does give you more control over how your content is used.
