The Geneva Water Hub, together with the University of Geneva, invite you to participate in the 7th edition of its Online Course on International Water Law and the Law of Transboundary Aquifers which will take place from 10 October to 17 December 2022.

A quarter of the world population consumes unsafe drinking water, more than 90 per cent of disasters are water-related, and experts’ projections are alarming: by 2050, at least one in four people will be likely to live in a country affected by chronic freshwater shortages. World population, urbanisation and climate change are steadily increasing. The competing demands on water such as the human, mining, industry, and agricultural sectors will likewise continue to grow. This situation could trigger water-related tensions and conflicts.

In this context, knowledge of international standards and principles governing the management and protection of freshwater resources is necessary in order to negotiate and implement appropriate legal frameworks to keep the peace in this aspect in the world.
