Hundred rupees with agriculture theme was introduced in 1975 as India was making progress fast especially in agricultural area. It has Bhakhra Nangal dam picture which was an important irrigation project of the time as was called as one of the temples of modern India, by none other than our first prime minister, Pd. Jawaharlal Nehru. Its foundation stone was laid in 1948 immediately after independence and was completed in 1963. The rupees hundred of that time glorifies the progress being made in agriculture by adding pictures of 3 women planting paddy, wheat , tractor and agricultural machines and Tea plantation. With all these images, the hundred rupees of that time was one depicted the progress of India on the note itself.
