Premature baby: A premature baby is a baby born before 37 weeks of gestation. These babies may face health challenges due to their immature organs and underdeveloped systems.

Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU): The NICU is a specialized unit in the hospital where premature babies receive around-the-clock care, monitoring, and treatment from a team of healthcare professionals.

Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS): This is a common condition in premature babies, where their lungs are not fully developed, making it difficult for them to breathe.

Apnea of prematurity: Apnea is a condition where a premature baby stops breathing for short periods. It is common in premature babies and can be treated with medication and/or respiratory support.

Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH): This is a condition where bleeding occurs in the brain of premature babies. The severity of the condition can range from mild to severe.

Developmental assessments: Premature babies are at higher risk of developmental delays, and as a result, may require regular developmental assessments to monitor their progress.

Kangaroo care: Kangaroo care is a method of holding a premature baby skin-to-skin against the parent's chest. This technique can help regulate the baby's body temperature, breathing, and heart rate.

Feeding challenges: Premature babies may face difficulties with feeding due to their underdeveloped digestive systems. They may require specialized feeding methods, such as tube feeding or specialized formula.

Overall, the journey of a premature baby to health can be a challenging and emotional experience for parents. It is important to seek support from healthcare professionals, family, and friends throughout this journey.
