Hey guys,

I just wanted to make a quick video on how I fixed my sound issue on Arch Linux. I hope this video can help you with your sound issues and save you hours of frustration.

Here is a copy of the text in VIM

First - check you have either pulseaudio or pipewire installed, if not install them following arch wiki, link here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/soun...

Second - check alsamixer and ensure auto mute is disabled and that the speaker has green 0s install alsamixer using pacman -S alsa-utils

Third - check the status using command "systemctl status your audio server"

Fourth - this fixed my issues with sound on linux - Update the bios(possibly downgrading may help too) - you can get these files from your laptop / PC manufacturers website

Fifth - install sof-firmware - I have seen a few comments saying this has helped people.

Sixth - added post video - if all else fails check the hardware maybe your speakers are damaged.

Seventh - Maybe try a different OS, Windows or other distro.

I hope this has helped you if not you can always leave a comment down below.

For those curious about my desktop environment I'm using hyprland using JaKooLit's dot files which can be found here: https://github.com/JaKooLit/Arch-Hypr...

For live wallpapers I'm using MPVpaper which can be found here: https://github.com/GhostNaN/mpvpaper

I think I've narrowed down the package which has caused this sound issue, the issue seems to be reproducible by downloading NVIDIA drivers for Linux. It appears this issue also occurs when performing a hard reboot which I needed to do after Black Ops 3 froze.
