"Our Miss Brooks" starring Eve Arden started as a radio program in 1948 and continued to run side by side with the television version through most of its run from 1951-1956. Miss Brooks was an English teacher at Madison High. Also in the cast were Gale Gordon as Osgood Conklin (her principal), Jane Morgan as Mrs. Davis (her landlady), Richard Crenna as Walter Denton (a student), and Robert Rockwell as Philip Boynton (the biology teacher and Miss Brooks' love interest). In 2001 I had the great pleasure to have lunch with Robert Rockwell in Los Angeles. He had great stories about his appearances on "Superman," "The Lone Ranger," and, of course, "Our Miss Brooks."
