Howdy. Today we will pose a simple question; where are the construction photographs of The Palace of Parliament in Bucharest, Romania. This absolutely monumental building was said to have been founded in 1984, with a construction process that continued through 1997.

Yet, at the root of the history, it seems we only have a handful of construction photographs of the Palace of Parliament, with a majority taken as the ancient Uranus Hill in Bucharest was demolished to clear the way for the project. The photographs depicting actual construction of the Palace number to around three images, all of which depict the Palace of Parliament nearing completion, or with foundations and most of the building already in place. At over 9 billion pounds, the Palace is the heaviest building in the entire world.

Obviously the lack of photographic documentation struck me as odd, given the building is only a few decades old, so today I’ve decided to dive deep into this mysterious history - from the young architect with almost no experience that won a design contest to lead this project, to that same architect being the root cause for the lack of construction photographs, to the historic castle-like structures which once lined Uranus Hill, and the massive Burial Mound contained beneath them - we will attempt to dive into every seldom discussed aspect of the history, the theories, and the photographs of The Palace of Parliament in Bucharest.
