Conor McGregor says Mike Perry will face a former UFC fighter in his BKFC return. BKFC made many headlines at their Champions Summit press conference on Thursday with part-owner Conor McGregor hosting 14 champions onstage. McGregor announced a $25M open-weight tournament featuring 32 fighters as well as the signings of multiple UFC veterans.

McGregor was caught in the middle of a press conference brawl between the face of the BKFC, Mike Perry, and welterweight champion David Mundell. While Perry ended up facing off with the defending champion, it looks like McGregor and co. may have other plans for ‘Platinum’. McGregor told Perry at the press conference he’d be fighting a fellow UFC veteran in his return on Oct. 11, which would mean no title fight with Mundell.

Earlier this year, there was new intrigue in a potential fight between Mike Perry and Jeremy Stephens. Stephens faced off with Conor McGregor after breaking the jaw of common opponent, former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at KnuckleMania in January. On the same night, Stephens expressed interest in a more realistic fight with Perry for his ‘King of Violence’ title. Stephens is a perfect 3-0 in the BKFC but is coming off a UFC loss to Mason Jones in May. Stephens has revealed his UFC deal was one fight only, so a BKFC return may be imminent for a fighter as violent as Stephens.

Conor McGregor made some huge announcements at the inaugural BKFC 2025 Champions Summit on Thursday night. McGregor, a co-owner of the surging bare-knuckle league, was front and centre at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood in Florida for the press conference that featured all of the promotion's champions, including a host of UK talent. The event marked the beginning of a new era for BKFC, with one of the biggest announcements on the night being the addition of several MMA stars and former world champion boxers to the already stacked roster. James DeGale, the first British boxer to win an Olympic gold medal and world title, joined former WBO junior lightweight champion Jamel Herring as new additions to the bare-knuckle league. DeGale, 39, held the IBF super-middleweight title on two occasions between 2015 and 2018, and he retired from the sport after being well beaten by Chris Eubank Jr at the O2 Arena, London, in 2019.

Herring, meanwhile, went 15-0 at the start of his pro boxing career, and has notable victories over Lamont Roach Jr and Carl Frampton. The 39-year-old from New York lost his WBO strap in October 2021 to Shakur Stevenson, who defends his WBC lightweight title against William Zepeda this weekend. Former UFC title challenger and Olympic silver medallist Yoel Romero was one of four MMA fighters also unveiled as new BKFC signings. Romero embarked on an eight-fight win streak in the UFC en route to his first shot at UFC gold, which he lost to Robert Whittaker in 2017. 'Soldier of God' lost a middleweight title bout to Israel Adesanya in his final UFC bout before fighting under the Bellator and PFL banner five times. One of the opponents Romero defeated during his seven-year UFC stint, Derek Brunson, was also announced as one of BKFC's new signings. Brunson fought in the UFC for 12 years and his last fight in the promotion was a defeat to current middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis in March 2023.

Conor McGregor is an Irish professional mixed martial artist. He is a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, becoming the first UFC fighter to hold UFC championships in two weight classes simultaneously. He is also a former simultaneous Cage Warriors Fighting Championship (CWFC) Featherweight and Lightweight Champion.
