One of the most prominent among 108 temples built by Sage Parasurama, the Mridangashaileswari Temple (Sree Mridanga Saileswari Temple) is in the foothills of Purulimala in Kannur district. Mridangashaileswari Devi, the Goddess of the temple, is also the family deity of Pazhassiraja Goddess Mridangashaileshwari here is the family deity of the Kottayam dynasty.
