Weaning is a gradual process that begins in the third week of your puppy's birth and ends between the eighth or ninth week of life.

It is a very important step, as it is a process that prepares him to give up mother's milk permanently and in doing so, becoming a completely independent puppy.

Before starting to prepare the porridge, at IloveBulldogs.co we start with small tastes of Gerber chicken with vegetables… YES, you heard it right, baby food!

The first day we start with a little taste and then we complement their diet with breast milk.

On the second day, two trials in two feeding periods, and so on until the third or fourth day.

If there is any secondary reaction such as a bad smell in your stool or diarrhea, we suspend the process. We rest a couple of days and start again from day 1 of weaning.

HOW MANY TIMES A DAY DO I HAVE TO FEED A 3 WEEK PUPPY?

Remember, at this stage the puppies feed every 3-4 hours.

PUPPY GRUEL or PORRIDGE RECIPE
------------------------------------

We take a bit of kibble from the container and pour it into the blender jar, generally we pulverize enough kibble to feed our pups throughout the day. Also consider that depending on the size of the puppy, it will be the amount of porridge that should be eaten in each session.

Make sure that the croquette is completely pulverized, there should be no large pieces left, because your puppies will not chew the food yet and you will be wasting food.

Once we have the croquette powder, the utensils that we are going to require are:

An immersion blender https://geni.us/KI3Gx
A measuring spoon
Purified water at room temperature (bottled or filtered)
Croquette powder
And a container to feed your puppies

The proportion that we use to obtain the desired consistency is: one and a half portions of croquette powder, for three portions of water.

First add the croquette powder to the container of the immersion blender and then the water. This way you will ensure that your porridge has the desired consistency, in addition the powder won't get stuck in the spoon, spoiling your powder.

And finally: we are ready to get the porridge mixture. Give the mixer enough time to incorporate the two products so that there is no croquette powder left without water.

Let's pour the porridge into the container, Yes, we know that the mixture does not have a look that arouses the appetite, but Sam, she was delighted, you'll see.

Observe the consistency that your porridge should have, thick enough that it doesn't look like funeral home coffee, but liquid enough that it falls off the spoon easily.

Once your puppy has been satisfied, make sure to thoroughly clean all the food from its snout, paws and chest with a damp cloth and then dry it perfectly with a kitchen towel or napkin.
