The Cupra Leon 245 is a VW Golf GTI in disguise, which should in turn means it's a brilliant all-rounder.

If the Cupra brand is still one that's unfamiliar to you, let us help. While Cupra (a contraction of 'Cup Racing') was once the word that signified the sportiest cars in the Seat range, Cupra has now been separated out from the mainstream Spanish brand to form its own higher-end, performance-focussed marque. So, where this high-powered hot hatchback was once known and the Seat Leon Cupra, it's now known simply as the Cupra Leon, and wears a new bespoke bronze Cupra badge.

And in terms of hotness, the Cupra Leon comes in a variety of flavours. The most powerful versions have either 300 or 310 horsepower from their turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engines, while two other versions offer a slightly more modest 245 horsepower, one of them a plug-in hybrid, and one of them a detuned version of the 2.0-litre.
