With the slim success that the Jamaican authorities have scored over the last three years with the prosecution of four criminal organisations, much rides on the ability of the much-touted anti-gang legislation to secure convictions against 33 alleged members of the ruthless Clansman G@ng.

The alleged g@ngsters, including Andre ‘Blackman’ Bryan, the reputed leader of the One Don G@ng – a splinter of the St Catherine North-based Clansman – are all expected to begin their trial today in the Home Circuit Court.


A total of 21 people were arrested and charged for breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA) in the Hellshire area of Portmore, St Catherine on the weekend.

The arrests were made by officers attached to the St Catherine South Police Division as they continued their increased operational activities across the division. 

The unidentified individuals were charged between Friday, September 17 and Saturday September 18, according to a social media post by Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

"The persons were observed breaching the regulations in the Hellshire area, as well as along Newlands Road," the JCF said.


The Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) is defending its request for a rate increase, calling it necessary for the service it provides.
