An official release by the CIDCO stated that CMRS certificate has been granted by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) on 21st June 2023 for commencement of commercial operation between Central Park to Belapur station on Line No.1 of CIDCO's Navi Mumbai Metro Project. Now the complete Line no. 1 from Belapur to Pendhar stations will be ready for the commercial operation very soon.



Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at a function here during the launch of the Cluster projects for Thane recently asked the CIDCO officials to start the operations on this metro line soon. Within less than two weeks of the directions the CIDCO has received the green signal.



“An important milestone has been achieved in the history of Navi Mumbai Metro. Receipt of the CMRS certificate will facilitate to start commercial operation on the Belapur to Pendhar stations for the residents of Navi Mumbai very soon. After overcoming the numerous hurdles, the much awaited Navi Mumbai Metro service will start soon ” announced Anil Diggikar,Vice Chairman & Managing Director, CIDCO.



After receiving the CMRS certification Anil Diggikar, VC & MD, CIDCO visited the Metro stations on Line no. 1.



A total of 4 elevated metro lines are being developed by CIDCO to further enhance the public transport system in Navi Mumbai. Among them, the work of implementation of Line no.1 from Belapur to Pendhar was taken up first. Under the guidance of Hon'ble Chief Minister, Shri. Eknath Shinde, and Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, Maha Metro was appointed by CIDCO as an engineering assistant for the implementation of Line No.1.



CIDCO has received a financial line of credit of Rs.500 crore from ICICI Bank for the implementation of CIDCO's Metro Line No.1. Also in the budget of 2022-23 CIDCO has made provision for Navi Mumbai Metro by allocating dedicated land to monetize the project. Earlier in October 2021, CMRS certificate was received for the commencement of the commercial operation between 5 stations from Pendhar to Central Park on Line No.1. Now the CMRS certificate has been received to start commercial operation between Central Park and Belapur stations on Line No.1. It means the complete Line no. 1 will be operational soon for commercial operation.



CIDCO has already made all arrangements for successful operation. MahaMetro has been appointed as the operator, fare have been decided, staff has been recruited, etc.



The final (commissioner of Metro Rail Safety CMRS inspection for Navi Mumbai Metro (NMM) was done on the 7th and 8th of March. This the final test for NMM and once the metro receives the certificate, the decks will be opened for commercial operation on Phase 1 of Line 1 of the metro which stretches from Belapur to Pendhar covering around 11 km, with 11 stations and a depot at Taloja.
