Repairing a Sky HD Remote Control
Tools You’ll Need

Small flathead screwdriver or spudger.
Bowl of warm water and washing-up liquid.
Cleaning fluid (e.g., isopropyl alcohol).
Cotton swabs.
Soft cloth or paper towel.
Disassembling the Remote

Gently pry the remote apart using a screwdriver or spudger, starting from the seams.
Take your time to avoid snapping the clips holding the casing together.
Once open, carefully remove the circuit board and rubber button membrane.
Cleaning the Buttons and Plastic Casing

Wash the plastic casing and buttons in warm soapy water.
Use a soft brush or cloth to scrub away dirt or grease.
Rinse thoroughly and dry the casing completely to avoid water damage during reassembly.
Cleaning the Electronic Components

Use a cotton swab dipped in cleaning fluid to gently wipe the contact points on the circuit board.
Focus on the areas where the rubber button membrane touches the board.
Avoid excessive moisture—just enough to clean the surface.
Inspecting for Issues

Check the battery contacts for corrosion or wear.
If corrosion is present, gently scrape it away with a small tool.
Ensure there are no cracks or breaks in the casing or components.
Reassembly

Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling.
Place the circuit board back into the casing and align the rubber button membrane correctly.
Snap the casing halves together carefully, ensuring all clips are secure.
Testing the Remote

Insert fresh batteries and check if the remote works.
If buttons remain unresponsive, confirm the rubber membrane and circuit board are clean and properly seated.
Troubleshooting

If the remote doesn’t work after cleaning, test the IR emitter using a phone camera (it should light up when a button is pressed).
