Exploring Edinburgh's Mysterious Hidden Alleyways | Scotland Walking Tour 4K

Edinburgh's Old Town is filled with alleyways, many of them easy to miss. This video features just a few of the narrow passageways leading to hidden treasures that tourists miss all the time. The narrow, winding alleys are known as closes, and were generally named after a memorable resident, or a trade plied by numerous residents. Some open out into large courtyards, while others are no more than dimly lighted tunnels where passers-by brush shoulders between walls of ancient cobbles or roughly hewn bricks. Each has a history going back centuries, and each of them differs in style, character and age.
