Sudanese basketball star and humanitarian Manute Bol remembered. The member of Southern Sudan's Dinka tribe who went on to become one of the best players in US National Basketball Association's (NBA) history passed away on Saturday, June 19 at age 47. Standing 7 feet, 7 inches in height, Manute Bol was one of the two tallest men to ever play for the NBA and was among the most well loved players in the league. After his famed basketball career, Mr. Bol became equally renowned for his humanitarian efforts toward the goal of peace and reconciliation in his native Sudan as he established the charitable Ring True Foundation and donated the majority of his fortune to benefit others.
