1960s daytime television commercials 1 hour

One hour compilation featuring television commercials that aired during daytime TV shows in the 1960s (during programs like Dating Game, Let's Make a Deal, etc). Ads feature promos for the YWCA and TV shows like The Mod Squad and 77 Sunset Strip, as well as product ads for Dove, Chung King, Arrid, Liquid Glory, Bayer, Certs, Gold Medal Flour, Diet Parkay, Yardley soaps, Marx Best of the West playset toys, Tutti's Mod Playhouse, Chocks vitamins, Bufferin, Bayer, Clark gum, Elgin watches, Sani-Flush, Woolite, Listerine, Alberta VO5, Dentyne, Colgate, Crest, Chef Boy-Ar-Dee, racing jockeys for pride detergent, and an early Charlie the Star-Kist Tuna cartoon. Cigarette ads are included for Parliment, Marlboro, Winston, Kent, Salem. Cereal ads include a Sugar Frosted Corn Bursts cartoon, the Trix rabbit, Yogi Bear for OK's, Kellogg's Puffa-Puffa Rice, Special-K, and Homer & Jethro singing a song about Kellogg's Corn Flakes. Celeb endorsements include Art Linkletter for Formula 409, Danny Thomas and Hans Conried for Grape Nuts cereal, Charles Bronson for GE camera flashbulbs, the Beverly Hillbillies for Winstons cigarettes, and Mr. Ed cast members for the 1961 Studebaker Lark. BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on Youtube or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.

In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper monitored nightly for several years.
