Theodore E. Stebbins, Jr., Curator of American Art, Emeritus, Harvard Art Museums, examines the rediscovery of American paintings that began in the 1950s, the changing role of museums, dealers, and collectors in the second half of the 20th century, and his own experiences as a curator at Harvard, the Yale University Art Gallery, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Stebbins also speaks about his career-long research on the 19th-century American landscape and still-life painter, Martin Johnson Heade.
