The crackdown on illegal immigrants is ramping up across the country, with cities like New Orleans and Minneapolis among the latest targets.
In an interview Sunday on CNN, White House Border Czar Tom Homan said, "We’re looking for criminal aliens. We’re looking for public safety threats. National security threats and illegal aliens," he said."
For critics of the policies, the tactics have been harsh and the mission misleading, especially in light of new data compiled by a research group at the University of California, Berkeley Law School.
The Deportation Data Project compiled data and found that, of the 220,000 people deported during the first nine months of the Trump administration, about 75,000 (or one-third) had no criminal records, according to the research group.
But the trump administration insists the tactics are necessary because of what happened during the four years under former President Joe Biden, in which a million people are believed to have entered the country illegally.
In an October 28 interview on the Tim Dillon Show, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., was asked about Biden's Border policies.
