Physical protection is a critical stat for completing the game. It will protect you from gravitational anomalies, explosion, bullets, and mutants. Use armor and artifacts to your advantage to shield yourself from the most dangerous parts of the Zone.

It's VERY likely that some things will change in the future with upcoming balance updates (potentially even update 1.7) from GSC. Until then, this video should have everything you need to understand what physical protection is and how it works in Stalker 2.
