How to steer a car using the pull push steering technique http://www.driving-school-beckenham.c...

You will not fail your driving test for not using the pull push steering technique but it's still regarded as the safest and smoothest way of steering a car and is used by driving professionals.

For demonstrational purposes we sometimes slow the video down. Make sure that when you're driving that you keep both hands on the steering wheel unless changing gears or using another one of the cars controls.

Steering a car properly is important, not just on your driving test but forever after. Try not to cross your arms when you steer. Hold the steering wheel at either a quarter to three position or ten to two. Your left hand shouldn't cross to the right half of the steering wheel and your right hand shouldn't cross to the left half.

The pull push steering method helps you steer the car properly and involves gripping with one hand and pulling down or up and 'passing' the grip to your other hand as seen on the video. Use the whole steering wheel to maximise your turns.

Crossing arms could give you less control and block the airbag which could result in an injury should it go off.
