King Charles's new dazzling portrait 🥰

A new portrait of King Charles in military uniform has been released to mark Armed Forces Day.
Taken in the Grand Gallery of Windsor Castle, the image shows the King seated in a marshal's uniform complete with medals, swords and decorations.
The release of the image came at the same time that Camilla, the Queen, paid tribute to the Armed Forces, calling them a source of inspiration, comfort and pride in a video message.
Armed Forces Day is observed on the last Saturday in June and aims to pay tribute to veterans, service members and military families. It has been celebrated in the UK since the late 2000s. The image of King Charles was taken last November by regular royal photographer Hugo Burnand, who also took the official photographs for the 2023 royal coronation. A field marshal is the highest rank in the British Army. King Charles was promoted to the rank during Queen Elizabeth's lifetime but as a monarch he is the ceremonial commander of the entire armed forces.

The king wore a tan version of the field marshal's uniform when he attended D-Day commemorations in Normandy, France, earlier this month.

In a video message recorded at Clarence House, the queen reflected on the incredible courage of the soldiers who began the liberation of Europe from Nazi Germany in 1944. She said that 80 years on, the same spirit and qualities are still evident in our troops, who continue to serve despite various challenges and dangers.
The Queen added that in doing so, you are not only defending these islands, but also freedoms far beyond our shores. Your determination, tireless dedication and selfless loyalty to each other and to Britain are as enduring as our gratitude.
Patrons of the British Armed Forces Broadcasting Corporation charity, which produced the video, also expressed their gratitude to the families of soldiers who keep the fires burning at home while their loved ones are overseas.
