Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, commonly known as Sonata Pathétique was writtien, when Beethoven was 27, and published in 1799. Dedicated to his friend Karl von Lichnowsky. I heard the theme of this song for the first time when KISS used it as the opening riff of the song "Great Expectations".
