Killer Whales (ORCAS) in Trincomalee harbour!!

On this mornings whale watching tour we were BLESSED with an interaction from a pod of Killer Whales!! This was the first sighting of the season and is also a very rare occurrence in Trincomalee waters🙏

As we are SO excited! Here are some cool facts about Killer Whales from Divinguru’s resident Marine Biologist

- Killer Whales are not whales…they are actually the worlds largest species of dolphin
- A big male killer whale can grow up to 10m long and weigh in at 10,000 kg!!
- Killer whales are highly intelligent and use co-operative hunting tactics to catch their prey
- "Killer whale" name was born from ancient sailors observing them preying on large whales
