国内動物園唯一の展示【ホッキョクオオカミ】兄妹２頭の公開までの記録 【The only zoo exhibit in Japan】 Arctic wolves

【English follows Japanese】　2020年9月10日、待望のホッキョクオオカミ、北アメリカゾーン「オオカミの丘　Wolf hills」に登場。

2020年7月15日深夜の到着でしたが、ホッキョクオオカミは長旅を終え那須どうぶつ王国に来てくれました。疲れや体調などを考慮し9月まで展示時期を延ばし、王国での環境などにもゆっくり慣れて行ってもらう事に。初めて展示場に出て歩き出した姿に飼育スタッフをはじめ王国のスタッフの多くか歓喜の声を上げていました。そして今ではすっかり体重も増え、展示場でも元気に過ごしています。

ホッキョクオオカミをはじめとした様々な種類のオオカミたちが存在していますが、日本においては残念ながら絶滅。このホッキョクオオカミも絶滅危惧種と言われるオオカミの種類のひとつ。かつては国内でも飼育例があったのですが現在は展示施設はなく、那須どうぶつ王国が日本国内の動物園では唯一の飼育、展示になります。彼らにとって自然に近い環境で飼育し健全な管理ができるよう取り組んでいきます。

On September 10, 2020, two wolves will appear in the North American Zone "Wolf Hills".

The Arctic wolf arrived at the Nasu Animal Kingdom late at night on July 15, 2020, after a long journey. Considering their fatigue and health condition, we decided to postpone the exhibition until September so that they could get used to their new environment. Now they are gaining weight and are doing well in the exhibition hall.

The Arctic wolf is one of the endangered species of wolves. We will work to keep them in an environment close to nature so that they can stay healthy.
