Body of baby girl found on Queensbay beach

The body of a baby girl was found washed ashore on Queensbay Beach, Penang on Sunday afternoon.

Police were alerted to the discovery later in the evening by visitors who had spotted the lifeless body of the child.

According to Southwest Penang district police, initial investigation at the scene suggests the body could have been swept away from elsewhere.

The body was found naked and intact.

It has now been sent to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The case is being probed under Section 318 of the Penal Code.

Police are asking those with information to contact the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
