I tried using my Ioniq EV without charging at home. It's impossible without wasting a lot of time. There simply aren't enough working rapid chargers nearby.
So while I would encourage everyone to consider owning an EV, I think you need a charger at home for it to work. At least as the charging infrastructure currently stands in the UK.
