Therapy? is a rock band from Northern Ireland. The band was formed in 1989 by guitarist-singer Andy Cairns from Ballyclare and drummer Fyfe Ewing from Larne, Northern Ireland. Fyfe Ewing Left Therapy? in 1996 and was replaced first by Graham Hopkins and later by Neil Cooper. The band recorded their first demo with Cairns on bass. To complete the group, bassist Michael McKeegan was hired. Especially because of his wild live playing, he became a familiar face of the group. Later, guitarist-cellist Martin McCarrick also joined. With his cello he provided a special added value, which is especially evident on Infernal Love, although on that album he has not yet officially become Therapy? had joined. This only happened with the album Semi-Detached. Although the repertoire of Therapy? can be called predominantly rough, the ballad Diane, a cover of Hüsker Dü, scored the biggest hit in 1995. It achieved an eleventh place in the Dutch Top 40. The albums Troublegum and Infernal Love provided a breakthrough with the general public who recognized themselves in the uncompromising lyrics about growing up, fear, love and the mutual relationships of these three. Therapy? played several times at the Rock Werchter music festival for an ever-growing fan base. With Semi-Detached and Suicide Pact - You First, however, they consciously returned to their somewhat harder beginnings and an existence outside of classic chart music in the late nineties. Martin McCarrick left Therapy? in 2004, which brought the current number back to three group members.
