MG Shocks Goodwood 2025 with 742HP IM5, Cyberster Black & Cyber X Concept – EV Future Looks Fast and Sexy!
---
At the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, MG made a powerful statement—not with just one, but two all-new production EVs, a futuristic concept car, and a sultry roadster that turned every head. It was a full-force showcase of the British-Chinese brand’s vision for the electric future, blending performance, innovation, and design flair.
Let’s start with the centerpiece: the MG IM5. This executive liftback, sleek and sculpted, immediately drew comparisons to the Porsche Taycan with its smooth, aerodynamic silhouette. Featuring flush-mounted door handles, a drag coefficient of just 0.226, a panoramic glass roof, and 19-inch aero-optimized wheels, the IM5 is not just about looks—it’s built to cut through the air efficiently.
Inside, tech takes center stage with a massive 26.3-inch screen stretching across the dash, functioning as both digital cluster and infotainment system. Complemented by a 10.5-inch touchscreen, the interface supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while passengers enjoy heated and ventilated leather-style seats and a booming 20-speaker audio system. Premium finishes like metallic trim and wireless charging round out the luxury feel.
Under the hood—or rather, under the floor—the IM5 packs serious electric muscle. Battery options include 75 kWh and 100 kWh packs, with the Long Range 100 kWh version offering 441 miles on a single charge. Charging is quick too—just 17 minutes from 10 to 80 percent. But if speed thrills you, the IM5 Performance variant unleashes a staggering 742 horsepower and 591 lb-ft of torque, blasting from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds. Prices range from £39,450 to £48,495, giving Tesla a serious rival.
Not to be outdone, MG also introduced the IM6 SUV, essentially a taller, more spacious sibling of the IM5. It shares the same performance DNA but adds rugged touches like body cladding, a revised front fascia, and 23.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Powered by the same 100 kWh battery, it delivers up to 388 miles of range and hits 62 mph in 3.5 seconds in Performance trim. Starting at £47,995, the IM6 tops out at £52,995 for the Launch Edition.
MG didn’t stop at production models. Enter the Cyber X, a striking concept previewing MG’s upcoming design direction. This “urban explorer” EV boasts a boxy stance, vertical front fascia, and a full-width LED light bar. Hidden headlights, blacked-out A-pillars, and muscular fenders give it a tech-futuristic vibe, while a panoramic roof and flush door handles complete the high-tech package. Think of it as MG’s answer to the urban EV adventurer trend.
And finally, the Cyberster Black—MG’s seductive, open-top EV roadster—was dressed to impress. Painted in a deep, shimmering black finish enhanced by ultra-fine glass particles, it created a subtle sparkle and shimmer effect as it moved. Chrome wheels and red brake calipers added contrast, while the all-black interior kept things classy and sporty.
This year’s Goodwood wasn’t just another event for MG—it was a declaration. With the IM5 and IM6 ready to challenge global EV heavyweights, the Cyber X concept laying the groundwork for future design, and the Cyberster Black proving electric roadsters can be pure emotion on wheels, MG’s electric revolution is now fully in motion.
For fans of performance, luxury, and daring design, MG has officially stepped back into the spotlight—only this time, it’s electric.
