Learn how to quickly and easily get the average for a column using the Average function in DAX. Then learn how to take it a step further by using the Calculate function to wrap the average function and then add filters. With this little add, you can get column averages for specific breakouts or constraints. In this case, we filter the average final grades by class type (regular vs. online) and student midterm grade greater then 80.

So, the application here could easily be a professor or high school teacher looking to identify strong students for a special project or a summer internship or similar. It could be anything. As I discuss in the video, being able to use the Calculate function to get the average for a column with filters in DAX is extremely helpful and very useful.
