Saiga 12 Gas Adjustment | Gas System Plug Settings

How to adjust the gas plug settings on a Saiga 12 shotgun. The Saiga plug has two gas ports, referred to as setting 1 and 2.

The gas ports are of different size, and allow varied amounts of gas to drain off from the barrel, to cycle the shotgun when fired. With the dramatic differences in shotgun loads available, this minimum of two options on the gas regulator is needed to cycle low brass (weaker or lighter loads), vs heavy shot like slugs.

A quick way to remember is that setting 1 is used for heavy/big load, including 3 inch shells, slug, and some heavy buckshot. Setting 2 is used for all low brass, including bird shot.

A better option than the standard Saiga 12 gas plug regulator, would be to replace it with the drop-in DPH Arms Saiga 12 Gas Regulator. This replacement gas plug has 6 settings, instead of only two. The additional gas settings dramatically increases your ability to cycle properly without losing performance.
