Urban exploration at an abandoned hospital with everything left behind? Yes, please. I grabbed my nikon d850 and a lens (but I forgot a battery, so I had to buy one during our trip), and we drove for a few hours in search of this abandoned general hospital with medical equipment still left behind. This hospital provided care for patients from the late 80s until 2007, the year they called bankruptcy. We went inside the building. We walked on piles of dust, packaged yet expired pills, and through some puddles. I see the rain through a broken hospital window. It’s a gloomy day. I imagined what the patients would have seen from their beds. Even a pile of no longer sterile surgical supplies entered my sight when we approach the OR. The operating room was stripped of a surgical light and a bed I wanted to see. It was a bit of disappointment. Today, silence with occasional banging sounds and emptiness fills the space of this no longer used building.

Narrative:
Here’s the brief history of this place. Let me keep it simple. This hospital locates in a small town. This place has 114 inpatients’ beds. The doctors and nurses provided care for hundreds and hundreds of patients in a single day. They used to have 20 doctors, but the number gradually decreased to 6 doctors to run this hospital. Many aspiring doctors do their residency in bigger cities. On top of that, there was a healthcare system change that reduced medical fees. They were deeper into debts, and they called bankruptcy and closed it in 2007. Hundreds of medical equipment are still lying inside this building. Today, it is abandoned and forgotten.

I would like to give a shout-out to healthcare workers all around the world as well as to those who served in this hospital. May the Lord be with them.
