Manager Ali Abdelaziz raves about Islam Makhachev; says Umar Nurmagomedov will finish Sean O'Malley

Ali Abdelaziz of Dominance MMA joined me to discuss Islam Makhachev's title defense Saturday in the main event of UFC 302 against Dustin Poirier at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Abdelaziz, who manages Makhachev, praised Poirier as one of the toughest opponents of Makhachev's career but is oozing with confidence and believes Makhachev will win.

He gave great insight into Makhachev's mindset and the secret to his success. He said Makhachev is far stronger than he's given credit for and said he once took down a 235-pound Daniel Cormier in the gym.

Abdelaziz predicted Makhachev would finish welterweight champion Leon Edwards in two rounds or less if they ever met.

He also manages Umar Nurmagomedov, who is training in Las Vegas for an Aug. 3 main event against Cory Sandhagen in Abu Dhabi that is a No. 1 contender's fighter for the bantamweight title. He predicted a Nurmagomedov win over Sandhagen and said he felt Nurmagomedov had better hands. He said if he takes Sandhagen down, he'll finish him.

Abdelaziz said he believes Nurmagomedov would finish either bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley or elite contender Merab Dvalishvili if they ever met.
