After the Mother's Bus Attack, where armed individuals took over a bus near Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility and killed three people, Israeli intelligence identified Abu Jihad, a leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), as the person behind the attack. Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin ordered his assassination, leading to a carefully planned operation by the elite military unit Sayeret Matkal in Tunis, where Abu Jihad lived. The commandos used surveillance and smart tactics to reach his villa and successfully carried out the mission, even though they had an unexpected encounter with his wife. While Israel did not officially take credit for the operation, it received a lot of media attention and sparked discussions about its impact on the ongoing conflict in the region.
