What began as a straightforward design-and-build home evolved into something far more ambitious. With GK Rustia at the helm and interiors by Forma Luna, the project took a bold turn when the client accepted the challenge to make the architecture more iconic.

The defining feature? The louvers.

Initially seen as a risk - complex in both installation and long-term maintenance - the louvers ultimately became the focal point of the façade and the home’s identity. They gave the residence its name, The Louvered House, and transformed what could have been a standard structure into a distinctive architectural statement. Hard lines and structural precision are softened by the movement of plants, the warmth of wood, and the play of natural light. Nothing overpowers; every element complements. Everything fits.

Inside, the discipline continues.

Upon entering, the only visible door is the main door. The rest - leading to the powder room, family room, guest room, and service kitchen - are concealed within flush walls. This intentional design decision slows the mind. Without the visual cues of multiple doorways pulling you in different directions, you are encouraged to pause, to settle, to simply be. The absence of visual clutter creates calm - a subtle yet powerful way architecture shapes behavior.

In the kitchen, durability meets cohesion. Neolith was chosen for the countertops - not just for its resilience against daily wear, but for its ability to tie the space together. From accent walls to floor tiles, wood detailing to cabinetry finishes, the material anchors the palette and reinforces the home’s quiet strength. This is not a show kitchen. It is meant to be lived in - and lived in fully.

A home only reaches its full potential when the right minds come together.

The Louvered House is proof that when you have an architect you trust and an interior designer you can rely on, risks become defining features. What once seemed complicated became iconic. What could have been ordinary became architectural.
