Last week I went to an invite-only design conference in NYC hosted by ‪@usertestingcom‬ –This Connect.
If you're a UX designer wondering how AI is impacting our role, let me be clear:

the shift is already happening and designers’ responsibilities are shifting. Fast.

Here are the 3 biggest takeaways I brought home:

1) AI is redrawing the boundaries of our roles.
Designers are generating code. Developers are prompting for designs. That blurry middle? It’s growing. And it’s not just us–AI is impacting every team.

2) The world is getting less “normal.”
Seth Godin said something that really stuck with me: if you wait for the dust to settle, you’ll miss your shot. The people who step up now might be the ones who get to build what’s next.

3) UX research is the differentiator. We need to ALWAYS be testing

Amy Stillman called it the “Minimum Viable Test.” Testing early, often, and integrating insights right into the design workflow. Less handoff, more alignment.

It left me thinking: if we’re building in an increasingly uncertain world, the designers who can adapt fast and ship with insight might be the ones who lead the charge.
