Today on Air Arms TV, Air Arms ambassador, Richard Leonard is hunting guinea fowl on the Limpopo Province of South Africa.

Guinea fowl are a huge pest for the farmer and Richard is doing all he can to help reduce the number. During this epic airgunning adventure, Richard is treated to some incredible scenery and also bumps into some pretty interesting critters along the way.

The Limpopo Province is a magical part of Africa, teeming with wildlife. It’s the perfect location for an Air Arms adventure. Richard will be targeting disease spreading, feed stealing guinea fowl. They are a very popular game bird here in South Africa and a specie that are quite challenging to hunt.

This farm specialises in rare and dangerous game. Sable, buffalo and rhino are all roaming these grounds and the farmer is having a real problem with these birds stealing the feed meant for the wild game.

Victor, the local poacher controller for the farm, will also accompany Richard. Guinea fowl are extremely skittish animals, Richard will need to use stealth and manoeuvring to approach them close enough to take a safe, clean shot.

It doesn’t take long before Richard comes across several guinea fowl. Not to miss an opportunity, Richard gets the Air Arms Galahad set and slowly squeezes the trigger. A successful shot and the first bird of the day has been quickly dispatched. Whilst Richard examines the bird he spots a herd of buffalo feeding, it’s amazing to see such incredible animals in their natural environment.

This place is really magical, the sun is barely up and Richard has already seen buffalo and taken his first guinea fowl. Again, it isn’t long until he spots group of guinea fowl. Using a large tree for cover, Richard takes aim and another guinea fowl is down.

Further into the bush Richard comes across another incredible sight. A massive male python is lying amongst the grass. This is why you have to stay sharp out here, you never know what animal you might come across. A sight like that doesn’t come around everyday, Richard will have to start watching his steps more closely.

Continuing on, Richard heads into another field that he has been told is full of guinea fowl. He decides to follow a road that gives a more visible pathway. This path soon pays off and Richard aims at another guinea fowl in the distance. The Galahad yet again his perfectly and the birds are dispatched.

The day is quickly coming to an end and Richard really wants to get one more bird down. He sees a group francolin nearby. Francolins make for some delicious eating and he can’t this opportunity pass. Once in position, Richard squeezes the trigger and the final bird of the day is down.

It has been an amazing adventure and a day that Richard won’t forget anytime soon.

Next time on Air Arms TV, Air Arms ambassador, Eddie Jones heads out on a woodland pest control outing.
