It is possible, that the history of rock music is much older than it seems at first glance.
For example, sound that looks like a guitar distortion effect and riffs of musical phrases have been known since the Middle Ages.
To illustrate my observations, I took a backing track of the classic hard rock composition Iron Man by Black Sabbath and played a part for guitar on an instrument of the 13th century, it turned out a very organic combination
This medieval stringed instrument is called an organistrum, It combines the functions of a keyboard and bow instrument.
The oldest western European wheel lire relative, he has a characteristic "rock sound", this is achieved thanks to the features of its design.
